The Story Behind This Song 🎶

In the summer of 2014, I put in a new AC and heating system at my house. I thought it would bring me warmth and comfort. But ❌ the person who installed it did a bad job. Right from the start, I had nothing but problems.

🌡️ Every winter, when the outside temperature drops to 30°F, my so-called “brand-new” heater won’t go above 65°F. Most of the time, it barely reaches 61°F. No matter how high I set the thermostat, my house stays cold. 🥶

💸 This system cost a lot of money—almost enough to buy a small car 🚗—but here I am, still freezing in my own house.

👕🧥 Because of the cold, I’ve had to wear a lot of clothes to stay warm:
✅ 2 sweatshirts
✅ 1 coat
✅ 1 feather jacket
✅ 2 pairs of pants
✅ 2 pairs of socks
✅ 2 warm hats

But still, the cold seeps into my bones. ❄️

🚐 Some nights, I sit in my 1998 Toyota Sienna because—believe it or not—it’s warmer in my car than in my house!

🎵 One day, while staying in the house with frozen fingers, I thought, “I should write a song about this.” The way the cold cuts through me like a knife reminded me of the sharp sound of certain notes in music. So I used them. The feeling of discomfort and cold is all in the music I made.

📖 But then I remembered Romans 8:28:
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”

I could stay angry. I could let my frustration take over. Or… I could take my pain and turn it into something good. 🎶

The structure of this song: In this song, I used many second intervals, including the major 2nd and minor 2nd. The major and minor 2nds sound very sharp, like the cold cutting through your skin. It feels very uncomfortable, and that is the idea behind describing the sharpness of the cold.
